SmartSweets {Healthy Halloween Haul #2}

We’re back at it again, talking about another healthy candy (oxymoron? I think not!)…SMARTSWEETS.

Today’s selection is the healthiest of any of the candies I received for Halloween.

SmartSweets are sweetened with stevia (NO SUGAR ALCOHOLS!), are nut allergy friendly, gluten/dairy/soy free, contain nothing artificial, have 24g of plant based fiber, have 5g of protein, & have only 9g of net carbs.

These gummies tasted wonderful! They came in two varieties: original and sour. The flavors were accurate to the fruit they represented. They each had a distinct taste. There was not a strong stevia aftertaste. They were bright and effervescent to the palette.

I must warn you, though, the sour gummies are VERY sour when they first hit your tongue. It tones down quickly, but the initial sour punch is intense to say the least. If you don’t *love* sour, definitely go for the original gummies.

Now, onto the texture. These gummies seem quite tough/sticky at first. I am sure this is simply a result of the amount of fiber they contain. This issue didn’t affect my overall eating experience, because it can be easily solved by warming the gummies in your mouth for a few moments before chewing 😊 If you let the gummies warm up a bit, the texture becomes very similar to that of a typical gummy bear.

As you all know, I have PCOS, which means my blood sugars are completely whacked out. I love that SmartSweets has created a candy option that’s friendly to people suffering from any sort of blood sugar issue or sugar sensitivity.

Eating these gummies left me happy and satiated.

SmartSweets is definitely a candy I’ll purchase in the future! 👍🏻
