Fitness Tips from Girl Gone Crunchy

Exercise: Gotta love it! Or not…probably not. You don’t love it, do you? Well, you aren’t alone. Most of the modern population loathes exercise. They just can’t force themselves to do it, let alone, enjoy it.

So what’s a girl to do? You want to be healthy, but you really DON’T want to exercise. Well, let me tell you.

Let me start by saying that I am not an exercise expert, by any means, but I think that’s what makes me fit to say what I’m about to say. I can say it because I’ve been where you are, and, sometimes, I still am you. I’m naturally a pretty lazy person. Mix that with a little depression, and bad self image and you’ve got a girl who hated exercise with a fiery passion. I hated exercise until I found workouts that I enjoyed doing.

I discovered that I had a true passion for Zumba, and really enjoy Cardio Kickboxing. I try to get to classes 4-5 days a week, depending on my schedule. Working out doesn’t seem like a chore anymore. Okay, Okay…sometimes it still does, but usually not. There are always going to be days when you wake up, you’re sore or tired or busy etc..,and you don’t want to out. Anyone who says they don’t experience this is a liar. End of story.

The key to exercise is finding something that, the majority of the time, you enjoy doing. It’s different for everybody. Some people love weight lifting, others are runners (*cough cough* not me *cough cough*), some like to play sports or garden. You don’t have to be a gym rat to be fit and active. Even walking for 20-30 minutes is helpful.

Here is my proposal. Experiment, do some research, and find something you like. Until then, just walk. Commit to walk for 20-30 minutes each day, and experience the positive changes in your mind and body.
