Smoothie Simplicity

After a few months of homemade protein breakfast shakes, I started to hate smoothies. I associated them all with heaviness, an extreme sense of being full, whey protein, and unpleasant after tastes. I would have been fine to never drink one again. One day, though, I came across some frozen mango in my freezer. I had nothing to use it for, and decided to blend it up. I added some water and lemon juice, and was astounded at how delicious it was. I experimented with several different fruits, liquids, and ratios until I created my optimal fruit smoothie.

1 cup frozen pineapple
1 1/2 cups frozen mango
6-10 frozen strawberries
1 cup water
1/2 cup pineapple juice

Add all ingredients to blender and purée until your desired consistency is reached.

If you’d like to make this into a GREEN SMOOTHIE, simply add 2 cups of spinach (or other greens of choice), and add extra 1/2 cup of pineapple juice.

Can you think of a better way to get in multiple servings of fruits and vegetables? You are filling your body with vitamins, nutrients, and fiber, and your mouth with smooth, creamy, sweet goodness. Seems like a win-win situation to me. Do you #drinkyourfruit ? Comment below or connect with me on Instagram ( @girlgonecrunchy ) and tell me your favorite ways to blend up fruits & veggies.
